This scenic trail from Gavrio to Batsi, passing through Kypri and Agios Petros, is one of the best for panoramic views over Andros’ hills and coastline—a route that invites you to slow down, take in the landscape, and maybe even capture the moment. There are several entry points, but we recommend starting near Villa Arni, especially in the early morning or late afternoon, as this route has limited natural shade. As you walk toward Agios Petros village, you’ll pass through landscapes dotted with olive trees, old paths, and sea views that grow more expansive with each turn.
One of the highlights is a stop at the Zoodochos Pigi Monastery, as well as the impressive Agios Petros Tower, a well-preserved Hellenistic monument that dominates the skyline and tells the story of Andros’ ancient past.
We had the chance to hike this route with the Greek Instagrammers’ team, and watching them capture the light, textures, and history of the island for their project #my_andros was an inspiring experience. Their photos—shared widely on Instagram—show just how visually rich and varied this trail is.
Tip: Just across from the Zoodochos Pigi Monastery, follow the small road that leads to the remains of an old house and church—a peaceful spot with uninterrupted views of Kypri Bay, perfect for a photo break or reflective pause.
